Additional Information:
The theme of this concert is light-hearted enjoyment. After a new and specially composed arrangement by Tom Higgins of The Emperor Waltz by JOHANN STRAUSS II comes STANFORD’s Serenade in F – a masterly work combining lyricism
with irreverent humour (the 2nd movement variations are based on a cheeky motif from Till Eulenspiegel) and sheer ebullience. JEAN FRANÇAIX’s Dixtuor is typically French in its lightness of touch and witty
interplay between the instruments, while the evening is rounded off with some of OFFENBACH’s most catchy and exhilarating tunes.
