Additional Information:
Our coldest season is a wonderful time to visit WWT London Wetland Centre, with the colourful winter birds decked out in their finest plumage. Our warden will guide you around the wildlife reserve to see what’s about and give you tips on field-craft and
bird ID. Flocks of beautiful wigeon graze on the grass banks; listen out for their evocative whistle. The elusive bitterns hide out in the reed beds, but with up to six spending the winter here each year you stand a good chance of seeing one.
Colourful teal and shoveler dabble on the main lake. And some years we’ve had 50+ snipe and 100+ shoveler on site some days. Rarities at the Centre in previous years include bearded tits, waxwings, scaup and common scoter. We record over 180 species of
bird each year, so you’re almost bound to see something exciting. So wrap up warm and join us for a winter wander to see which amazing water birds are about. Please bring your own binoculars/telescope to get the most out of the walk. Booking essential.
